Question ASC usefull?

I took the car up Palomar road (mostly tight 2nd gear banked sweepers) yesterday to try out my new Robispec street set-up, I was pushing but not at track speed, just enough for the stock Advans to get noisy a few times, the Robispec street suspension (KW coilovers, rear bar, roll center kit) is very neutral if driven smoothly (fast in, fast out) .

What I noticed is that the car was jerky and twitchy under mild acceleration mid corner to exit with the ASC on making me want grip the wheel tightly and fight the car thru the corner. Once I turned ASC off everything smoothed out and I could be comfortable driving "briskly" with confidence.

The AYC seems a good thing for the canyons but unless something is wrong with my electronics, and I don't think there is, I can see no earthly use for ever leaving the ASC on and I'm wondering why Mitsu. even provides the Automatic Stability Control, much less on as the default condition; comments?

Because it will save people from royally ****ing their **** up if they exit a corner too hot.

From a manufacturer's perspective, would you rather make someone turn something off, or have someone drive their car off a cliff and die?

ASC is one of the best things about the car, in my mind. It's stupidly safe, it's easy to turn off, and it's just all around awesome. Yeah, shockingly enough, you strap on some KWs and go canyon running, it makes sense to turn it off. News at 11; safety device sucks for spirited driving. Yee haw.

All I can think of is for the people that don't know how to drive. I think it is more likely to save them from a spinout than having it off.

It saves people that are used to a 150hp fwd from sitting in to an evo and slamming the gas on corner exit and not being able to catch the car's ***.

It's annoying as hell for someone who came from a previous Evo (or any other AWD car that is tail happy).

First, you must not drive in snow ever. lol. ASC will save your *** and drive night and day different on a super slick road. If I turn off ASC on ice, the car is hard to drive, and I look like an ***. But with ASC on, it drives like a dream. Also, ASC would be awesome for driving in a typical Rally type event. Wait, isn't the Evo "Rally inspired". lol

Second, try changing the ASC mode to either "Rain" or "Snow". Those modes will make the ASC wait longer during wheel spin before it reacts. Even in the "Snow" setting, it will allow you to slip your wheels pretty good, but still save your *** if you mess up.

OK I buy that, I will have to find a section to safely drive stupid and try it with ASC on.

I could get some over steer (with ASC off/AYC on) if I wanted with abrupt throttle brake or steering input, it never under steered (pushed).

I have driven stupidly and got in trouble in an old MGB back in the day, perhaps ASC (were it available) could have saved my *** back then

Nope no snow here in the lower elevations of CA, I would love to try out the "Rally inspired" EVO in the snow but I dare not even go near the mountain passes the way most CA yahoo's dive in slippery conditions. Perhaps a trip to El Mirage dry lake might be fun?

Yeah. I should be in "gravel" mode, I didn't think of that yesterday.

Thanks folks for answering my query and thank you Mitsu for selling an awsome car that can be driven quickly and safely under most if not all driving conditions.

If you drive better in the snow with ASC and you think you would be better off driving a rally event with ASC, you have no clue how to drive an Evo. Sorry for being rude but ASC is NOT intended for driving fast, it's intended for driving safe. Which has nothing to do with each other.
