Possible Boost leak? opinions plz

I've searched and searched, got similar answers, but i am just a lil frustrated cuz i feel like i lost boost.

I recently installed AMS Intake, AMS FMIC, and Harman Motive UICP.

I reset my ECU, warmed up my car, and drove a couple times...

however, when i am supposed to hit a peak boost around 3~4k, i can hear a somewhat air Spitting/ hissing sound ( different from turbo spool).

it's kinda dumb, but the car is going to its peak boost, it sounds like, tsu tsu tsu tsu tsu... air hissing/spitting ( LOL haha) and when i let go of the gas, BOV sound is relately very weak...

i checked the couplers, and BOV, and everything's tight...

I dont think i have any internal problems, but maybe stock BOV can't hold boost for some reason? or i really didn't tighten the clamps..?

any inputs will be appreciated... i will take off bumper once i get a spare time and try to check all the hose/connections again...

and i should get a boost gauge asap.. thanks in advance! plz chime in

Why don't you just perform a boost leak test to identify the leak?

I have the same issue! waiting for my leak tester from fightersgarage... I bought a used BOV to see if it was my crushed stocker leaking... but unfortuneately (for me) it didnt resolve the psst pst pst (also different fom spool sound) just prior to peak boost.

Do you have a boost gauge or anything that can give you boost readings? I think the " tsu tsu tsu tsu tsu..." sound is from the stock BOV leaking a bit of boost because it can't hold that. I get the same problem as well, but I checked my AP and I'm peaking out at about 25 lbs when I gunned it, so I think you should be okay.

sorry to thread jack, but Ive been trying to figure this out for a while now, and keep comin up empty...
I do have a guage, and it seems to be reading fine... Peak boost for me is also ~ 25psi. Ive felt like I have a leak for a while now... Just havent been able to find the damn thing... Had a BL test done in Jan. (w/ out soap and water) came up negative, did a smoke test @ 15psi, 3 weeks ago, and nothin...
Like I said, thought it was the bov, bought a used aps, and didnt solve the issue. although I have yet to teflon tape the adjustment screw, so gonna do that next...

damnn looks like numerous ppl have the same issue... it's really weird.. i was just coming home from work and school, and the symptons were still there.. funny how in 1st and 2nd gear, i don't feel the boost too much, but when i floor it in 3rd, and try to reach 3/4k rpm for that peak boost and "kick" that you are supposed to get from boost, well.. it's not there anymore.

car doesn't have a problem.. no codes, no bogging or limping.. but it just feels like, it doesn't pull as hard.

i thought about my Supercharged Si @313 HP spoiled my ***, but no... my X is way too slow right now...

i will finally have a 3hour break period between work tomorrow morning, so i will tear my X down and tighten all the clamps again...

The freaking x is soo inconsistent with the boost kick feeling. Somedays I get a sexy kick, the other days I just get a strong pull but no kick.. Somedays it just feels slow lol..

It's most likely the stock BOV. Someone did a leak test on it on the other forums and found that it starts to leak once you push 25 psi. Right now I'm running an aftermarket BOV with it recirculated using the OEM fittings...I've noticed the OEM fittings suck *** and they start to get loose after a while, causing a boost leak. So in order to correctly solve the problem I would say get a new BOV and new couplers.

Thanks for chiming in! that was my very first guess, but you think with my bolt ons i'm pushing more than 25psi? i'll check my connections soon again, and if that's not problem, i am buying new BOV

Yeah like wilbdog said it's most likely the stock BOV. When it does leak I'm guessing the leak is pretty minimal so maybe we don't have to be concerned?

Haha I've noticed this too. I think it might be cuz of the temperatures. Like on a cooler day when you first start driving you probably feel a pretty good kick compared to a super hot day when you've been stuck in rush hour for a while and finally get some open road to step on the throttle.
