5857 or 3582 for pump 93?

Hi,
Been reading on this site forever and just never got around to posting. Lots of good info here. Anyway, I am in the market for a bigger turbo and I think I have it narrowed down to the pt 5857 or gt 3582. I have tried several of the upgraded stock framed turbos and so far none of them have made me really happy and the ones I have tried all seem to leave something to be desired for. I want a fun street car that has a broad torque curve. No plans on building engine, pump 93 only and I dont drag race that much. I spend most of my time between 4k and 7k on the tach. I come from the honda world where I would just slap a 35r on it and be done, but now since getting the evo these small turbo have spoiled me when it comes to lag.

Anyway I would like your input on the two turbos I mentioned, which one would be the most fun on the street. I have tried the dom2, green and red and while they are great stock replacements, they just dont do it for me. Need something that has flat torque from 4 - 4,500 rpm to redline.

My vote is the 5857, after a tonne of research I was leaning towards that one personally. Then I had to change my plans

I was debating same thing myself a while back and decided to go gt3582r HTA with the Tial stainless housing. I am still tuning it and getting everything dialed in but I think it should work reasonably well on 93 octane. Bear in mind I have ported head and cams which help with knock resistance. What other mods are you planing with it? I am using Peak Boost manifold and fabbed the rest.

I was just going to get the ETS kit and just swap out my red for their kit and be done. I have fuel pump, dw1000, ets tp,v2 exhaust, ic.

With that 35r how much boost can you make in third gear at 4,000 rpm?

What about 20psi in third, how many rpms does it take?

I understand cams make a difference.

I still have to dial in cams so not sure but I'm hoping around 20 PSI or so. Doesn't feel that laggy but it does have less torque down low compared to the red I had before. THe sound it makes when on boost is wicked though!

I saw 460whp @26psi on 93 pump on stock cams with my TS 3582HTA on a dynojet. 20psi was around 4100-4200. I do not know what gear. When I added cams and meth it seems I never got a solid comparable number for gains b/c I used a low reading mustang dyno this time around and had a boost leak which caused some serious lag and drop in torque. I am getting my Ohlins on and the car re-tuned Fri. so if everything goes well I'll update you guys.

I like the 5857. I went with the 6262 and I am loving it even on ****ty 91 octane. Car starts pulling strong at 4000 and hits full boost of 26 ish at 4900 rpm.

I am creeping to about 22 PSI on my setup (Peak Boost manifold, custom everything else) and with my stock injectors going static at 6200 RPM or so, I should be probably close to 400 WHP at that level. Had to send my 1300's back (defective) and trying to figure out a misfire problem while I"m waiting for my injectors to come back.

we have done several 5857 cars and they are more between a Red and 35r as far as power. We havent really pushed one to the limits yet above 30psi. Currently finishing a full out build on E85 with a 5857 but the HTA82 is just a better all around turbo.

3582 has prove to make over 600 on Pump.. Im not sure 5857 can do that.. The 3582 I believe will make more power on kill mode.. We made 750 with it.. Thats near 6262 power actually..
