I recently bought the turbo xs intercooler pipe kit, and was very impressed with the whole package.
I saw they offer an intake kit as well, it looks like the ets, ams, and other cone style intakes, I called turbo xs and asked if it came with a heat shield, here is the response i got, " we did not find it use-full to use a heat shield, as our intake moves the maf sensor out of the way of the fans so you do not get an irretic idle, the only reason ams and others use the shield is from the fans and not because of the hot air," is this statement correct or will i have a problem with this system without some sort of a shield, any info will be great thanks

 

Hmmm, would be interesting to hear AMS and other chime in....

 

I may be wrong but IMO a heat shield is a mute point because of the intercooler. I could be wrong though....
