okay... take your time to break in your vehicle properly.... get used to driving the vehicle, to make sure that you don't need to take it in for warranty work. I'd say, give it at least 5k miles before dropping cash on bolt ons.

do a proper break-in like mrbkkt1 said and do your research... check out all the vendors... call them up and see what they say... some ppl like ETS... buschur.... AMS... figure out what your goals are and that should help you focus on what parts and/or vendor's to use.

exhaust, intake and a custome tune should be around or under your budget, and you will like the extra power.

I got a tomei ti exhaust and mil.spec cat installed w/ 2k miles on the odo. You'll still have enough money left for a tune.

As far as shops, where are you in CA? There are plenty of reputable shops in norcal and socal.

What kind of benefits will you see from upgrading just the turbo off the bat with no other supporting mods?

Here is what I would do:

I would drive the hell out of it to see if anything needs to be replaced under warranty. Someone said 3k-4k miles; that's perfect.

From there, I would go with:
Agency Power Short Ram Intake ($250)
AMS 3" Single Exit Cat-back ($650)
HKS Downpipe ($200)
Agency Power Test Pipe ($180)
Agency Power 3" Upper Intercooler Pipe ($300)
Custom OpenECU Pro tune ($400)

That is just under $2000 ($1980). With all of that, on a GSR, you should see +80 to +100 awhp. We are talking 320-340awhp for $2000 above stock.

PS: I have most of those parts and stand behind their quality.

HKS Downpipe?
Really? Why....?

Id say go with a Full AMS turbo back exhaust, or if he wants an open dump to go with an ETS or Xtremeboost's Open Dump.

I guess you are right...

If I had to do it again, I may have gone with the AMS turbo back.
