Another "Oh no, white smoke"

Sorry for the nonsense.....

when at idle for about 3 minutes or more, and more often with the AC blasting. The car wil start to PUFF WHITE SMoke out the exhaust. and I believe it smells like coolant.

I have not noticed any other signs, no fluid coming out of the overflow tank under boost and the only smoke under WOT is black (fuel)

small leaky headgasket perhaps? what are your thoughts?

stock motor, untouched

Oh that's right....

You damaged the engine or turbo, or both, congrats.

25psi should be no problem on the red or the stock headgasket...however it is possible the stock headgasket wore through a bit I guess, but I think this is the type of problem where you have to pull the head to figure it out.

I tuned my car. Turbo seals would be lovely, much easier and cost less time and money. To fix.

You do realize that there is a lot more to cylinder pressures than boost?

Boost is only one of the variables that changes the amount of pressure the head, piston, wrist-pin, and headgasket see, and if you tweak the other numbers enough you can pop a headgasket without running a lot of boost...

Thanks I didn't know that

I only had that turbo at 33psi on the stock block and the headgasket was perfectly fine at that level.

It's cool, lots of people don't understand that timing play a huge factor in the amount of pressure and therefore torque produced in the cylinder.

You can run 25 psi and 30 degrees of timing vs 30 psi of boost and 5 degrees of timing and make more power at less boost because of these properties.

yea my timing is 17* which is pretty much average for the higher power evos in the area. alot of people run alot more.

edit: its 17 from 6k on anyway under WOT load areas

Well go through it systematically, coolant can only come from a couple sources, you're going to be pulling the head and probably the turbo.

I'm with tephra, this would be a sensible thing to check first

Do a test with one of those dye coolant thingys to see if your head gasket is no good. At least that's what I think it was for. Used to use it all of the time. Been a while though.
