i wanted ams, but had a lot of problems getting one, not very customer oriented dealers, that ams uses, i am sure they are good, i ended up getting ets, and will post my review once i get it, still waiting on the items to arrive, but micheal at ets will answer any questions you will have and give you three options, versus just one, so you can pick the one best suites you.

mod list within the next month or so will be:
tomei exhaust
hfc
ams or ets dp
upper and lower IC pipes
ams or ets IC
works or cosworth drop in (dont want to deal with cops)
and a tune
Edit: I would go with the 4.0" core on this setup.

This might be a little off topic but could you post a pic of your IC in anodized blue finish I was trying to find one somewhere to no extent.

I got this thread and the other thread confused. Your correct. The 4.0" is a perfect fit on the X, no trimming at all. On the flip side, on the X I would recommend the 4.0" due to the higher flow rate down low.

Is there an negative at all of 4" vs 3.5"? I guess I'm wondering why there is a 3.5" option. Does the car run hotter with the 4" at all?

We offer the 3.5" for the guys looking to run moderate boost. The 3.5" is more then enough for the stock turbo, but the 4.0" will maximize flow.

Thanks!

Here are the test results on a stock turbo with no tuning.

3.0" = 17whp over stock
3.5" = 20whp over stock
4.0" = 22whp over stock

* Please note this was with no tuning just bolting the intercooler on. The intercooler is designed to keep the temps down and the power and tune consistent. The core we use is the same core thats on our 9 sec shop evolution X. The core has been proven and the 4.0" is also a direct fit behind the bumper beam with no trimming and the stock under tray will also bolt back on

The core is designed for both the Street/Road Racer and the Drag Racer and allows good air flow to the radiator.

We have the core sepearte or in a complete kit.

Standard Finish

Anodized Black Finish (Gold, Red, Black and Blue Available)

Complete Kit: http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/p...duct_info.html

Intercooler Only: http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/p...duct_info.html

Here is a little video w/ our 9 sec pass

If you have any questions, let me know!

Thanks,

Michael
Where is the dyno graphs from those intercooler tests? Would like to see how the power band was affected with the larger cores. Peak power is great and all but if you made 2 more whp peak and lost 15 lbs/ft torque its not worth it.

I was just about to ask similar question but luckily I've found ths thread!

In my country everybody says that there is no point to change the IC for a DD.
And I mean everybody.
However I am in possesion of ETS 3.5" intercooler which originally was intented to go with FP Red.
I will stay with the stock turbo with BC 272, turbo-back, inlet, UICP.

Question: will ETS 3.5" IC definitely give me some extra power comparing to the stock IC?
I'd already decided to sell my 3,5" IC, however it is not too late yet - I am just torn between two different opinions (USA vs PL).

Jed, the aftermarket ICs definitely provide more power, but where they really shine is providing that effect for longer. For example, if you were tracking, your stock IC might be fine for the first 2 laps, but then it starts getting so hot and inefficient (also called heat soak) that you start loosing power. With the aftermarket ones, you not only get more power, the cooling affect runs longer due to a more efficient design and you run more laps without loosing power continuously. The downside, if any, will be added weight, but its so small its not even worth mentioning.

Is this IC for an Evo? If so why is the inlet going straight out the back and not up?
