Yea man, no way I would pay that to fix it. On the stock tune, it is not very likely those mods caused the damage. The stock tune is so rich, it would still have plenty of fuel even if you leaned it out some by adding an intake.

There are tons of us who have way more done than those two mods, and have had no problems with many more miles. I find it hard to believe those two mods did anything.

The dealer is just trying to get out of the repair by telling you it has mods. That is unless you beat the crap out of it every day for the 20,000 miles.

I tried fighting it and took it to corporate and they backed the shop. I cant really afford to take the time and money away from school and my job to properly fight them on it so i guess im pretty much screwed... Right now a new block is being installed with new bearings and what not. After this i think i might be done with my evo unfortunately. I cant take hits like this...waaaaaayy too much money... So if anyone wants a pretty much new evo with bov and intake let me know lol. In response to tripper, you havent seen my car cause its been in shops since the semester started lol, mines silver. taking the bus sucks lol

Damn dude that sucks! Is it in the shop here in Reno? I'm just curious what shop you took it too. We've only got 2 shops here that are worth a damn. IVM is an AMAZING shop! But of course you pay for their quality of work (ex porsche techs) and Modified did all the work on my old evo (Cams, headstuds, head gasket, turbo, IC, etc) and I was satisfied with their physical labor, but their tuner didn't do as good of a job as my current local tuner who is my best friend and IVM's tuner.

Basically since you modded the BOV the only thing they can legally remove the warranty on is the BOV. If you have an exhaust they obviously won't warranty the exhaust, etc.
actually, you should read the act again, because you obviously have the wrong idea. i'm not going to bother explaining it; as long as they can prove it causes a certain critical condition (i.e. overboost), they have every right to not uphold certain warranties, but not completely revoke it.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll admit I haven't fully researched it. It would be quite a feat to prove this law. He would probably have to have an independent shop with a great standing to come to court and say that it wasn't caused by those problems and then convince mitsu's lawyers that they're wrong. Probably more money than it would to just pay for it yourself.
