So I bought a blox not really knowing there was a difference. Well it was way too harsh for me for daily driving. Tons of vibration in the cabin and steering wheel.

I don't know what durometer the blox is, but does anyone know what the lowest aftermarket one is? I know a few companies make them (ams, powerflex, etc...). But I'm trying to figure out what the softest one (still stiffer than stock) is.

You could always drill yours out. Scheides bought one and then drilled holes around the circumference to soften it up.

 

Yeah you can drill little holes around it to soften it up. An aftermarket motor mount period is going to cause vibration, but you have to realize what good it does, and how much stress it takes off of everything. I am not big on the big vibration either, but I love my blox for the performance it offers.

 

Might I suggest utilzing the original mount and filling it in with a 60A or less durometer polyurethane filler. You can purchase this from various online sources, as well as local home improvement facilities.

Scheides has the AMS 70A and drilled 8 holes in it, then bumped his idle ~150 RPM, and it's pretty decent. I loved the Blox in my IX, but I don't want to go that stiff on the X. I wish AMS (or anyone) offered something softer than the 70A.

 

Never thought about drilling it out. I guess I didn't want to comprimise the strength. Do you have a X? The vibration on my friends IX is minimal with the solid motor mount, but it was really bad on my X.

I actually did try that on my factory motor mount, but I think I maybe didn't clean it good enough for didn't use the correct silicone or something. But it rotted away after a couple months (las vegas heat?). I guess I'll try the good stuff and see if it lasts. I'm sure that will be less expensive than purchasing another aftermarket mount.

Boomba's website claims vibration is minimal but I'm gonna wait to hear from an end user.

 

My guess is that your friend's 9 still had its balance shafts....

 

The X has a stiffer chassis so more vibration is transmitted.

I had the Blox front motor mount on my IX, but I will not be doing any aftermarket mounts on my X.

 

If have the AMS 70A one without holes and my car isn't too bad....just loud.

 

Scheides' with holes is still more than I'd want at this point.
