LOL this has been asked so many times on here (and every other Evo forum).

Truth be told you won't get "a lot of torque" from just changing your intake. Maybe a piece of paper will tell you so but you'll need the tune more than the intake.

I personally went with the Injen SRI kit w/ UICP but in hindsight, I would rather have gone for the AEM CAI. Reason? SRI's are illegal in Austalia whereas the AEM box looks stock. Whilst the Injen sounds great, looks great, and has lots of 'wow factor', I'm nervous when I know there are cops around looking for an easy ticket.

Note: Injen SRI is fully exposed pod which is illegal for us in Sydney.

I personally like the Ams since it is a true full 3 inch intake , that way if anyone ever go's Fp Red or Black the turbo would not be bottle necked since the Fp also uses a 3 inch inlet .

Any intake will be fine really. Just a matter of preference and price. You have the options between a SRI (short ram intake) or a true CAI.

AEM. I got it and it works, and looks a bit more stock than the others. Not trying to be biased or anything.. : )

Gotta go with AMS on this one, proven results, time and time again. And who else makes one you can change from SRI to CAI in a matter of 30 min?

One consideration with an intake is the MAF housing diameter. An AMS 3" intake will run out of granularity at around 500whp on a Dynojet. If you are doing a serious stock-turbo build (a Black or a Red on E85) then get a 3.5" intake.

Primo Performance makes a 3.5" that is similar in design to the AMS intake. They do powdercoating in-house so you can get it in any finish that you'd like. I like aFe dry filters, so this is what I ended up with:

They can be ordered through MAP.

The buschur seems to have great dyno results in most cases so I was looking at that...and when it comes to the ams, is cold air really any better than short ram ?

It's not as helpful with turbocharged cars since the air gets heated anyway. If you have a good fmic then it probably works out the same.

It all comes down to if you want the exposed pod or not IMO.

If you can get away with having an exposed pod (i.e. it's not illegal), there's so much more to choose from.

But if not, then the AEM box looks so stock it's awesome.

Harman Motive. Ams design. Cheaper. What more do you want...
