Help needed: Transmission Issue

Hey guys,

Seeking some guidance on an issue I had tonight. Was driving home (not being aggressive on tranny at all), and all of a sudden the transmission shaft went very loose on me. Was then able to place it in fourth gear and ride it home (no leaks or anything), I thankfully was also able to select 3rd gear to launch from a stop with heavy clutch slip.

I can physically seem to access all 6 gates of the transmission, although I just seem to be getting the 3rd and 4th gears. But the horizontal travel of the shaft (side to side, as in neutral) is excessively long & loose. This travel exists while in gear as well, and the gears go in like butter even when the clutch is not engaged.

Did some searching but nothing seems to relate to these symptoms. I'll have to open up the boot tomorrow to see if there appears to be anything obvious...

Any ideas?

Thanks everyone

Check that one of the cotter pins didn't fall off of the transmission linkage, allowing the side to side cable to fall off. I'm about 90% certain it's related to the cables in some way, I haven't heard of any other issues like this that wasn't cable related anyway, lol.

I agree. Sounds like linkage issue.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm quite convinced that is the case as well. I'm going to have it towed to the dealership on Monday morning, I think they will warranty this... Other than increased vibration from the extra power and clutch, I don't see why this couldn't happen with the stock setup.

Worse case it should be a cheap and easy fix. I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks again for chiming in, appreciate it!
