After reading some more, it seems that they may have made this change to prevent the timing chain from contacting the oil jet. Apparently, after the timing chain has stretched just 1% (still otherwise absolutely serviceable, mind you) it starts to hit the timing chain oil jet and destroys the front of the engine (and potentially bends valves - can't remember if the 4B11T is an interference engine or not). I figure they went ahead and did away with the jet altogether to prevent this from happening

That said, I need to figure out how to disable the timing chain stretch P0012 code as I'll probably get that now that my block dimensions changed.

Thanks for posting this up, Im just getting done putting my built motor back together and noticed this too. Looks like that tiny hole in the block squirts oil as you mentioned. Good to know, I'm sure anyone building a 4B11T with a newer block will be searching for this.

Do you need to buy any additional parts for this oiling changes when swaping in a newer block?

Wasn't there a thread a couple days ago explaining that Mitsubishi changed the design? I think the post mentioned an orifice drilled from the galley to provide lubrication to the chain. U might want to check this first before you do anything crazy.
