Question Carbon Fiber Airboxes...yay or nay?

Hey all,
I just wanted to see what everyones opinions are and what hard-evidence suggests about the blitz or password jdm carbon fiber air intakes for the X.
Does anyone have a dyno graph with one of these being used as the intake?
Is it really helping low and mid range TQ by using one of these over a short ram-air or a long cold air intake?
800 bucks for the password and 1150 for the blitz are STEEP for intakes but if there is some sort of miraculous tq and hp to be found, Id like to see it.
I think they look incredible but besides the look, whats there to like about these vs any other intakes?

ETS is about $270, and AMS short ram is about $360. Just take the extra and spend it on exhaust, or save for a tune. There is no way the price difference can justify the performance gains ( if any) over those I listed.

Oh yeah, there are plenty of options out there. Im leaning towards your logic Kyle but maybe... juust maaay bee lol. Ill need a tune from Shareef @ FORGED once I go past the AP stage 2 with the turbo back exhaust so that may help out if I can save 400 or more on an intake.

tons of options!

Where is St Marys by the way? Im in Marietta near Lassiter HS, not too far from Forged.

If anything those fancy airboxes are going to lose power vs. an open-element intake. If you want to keep an airbox get the AEM.

I have the hks kansai box, so it's a yes from me
They won't make you power but power will be more consistent, resisting heat soak for longer and you can also run a cold air feed from the bumper right into it giving it a constant blast of cool dense air...

Hint:

Pay attention to the maf housing diameter. It will limit you before the airbox design will. Any time you can isolate the air going into the engine from the engine compartment it is a good thing.

That being said, I don't run an airbox. I do run a 3.5" maf housing.

Air boxes offer minimal performance, I always recommend saving the money for either the exhaust, intercooler, or professional tune. But some people are all about looks so each person has their own goals. Before a customer was ready to throw more parts and thousands into his car we tuned it and added over 125 hp and 120 tq to his car.
