Have TruBoost but is disconnected, hook it back up or replace it?
I recently bought an '08 GSR. Test drove it at the dealership and it was over boosting causing CEL and fuel cut. I told them I wouldn't buy it unless they resolved the over boosting problem. They "fixed" it, ran fine, and I bought it. (I don't regret it, great car otherwise). The issue is now that it appears that their fix was to disconnect the hoses to the BCS altogether so the car is only building boost to the stock wastegate spring pressure, so like 11.5psi - 13psi with creep.
Not a huge deal, I could connect it back up pretty easily I imagine. It's been so cold and snow covered since I bought it that I haven't wanted to poke around with it. But it's getting nice out, and I'd like to be able to crank up the boost.
But the question is, should I keep the TruBoost BCS as a boost control method, or go with something else? I've heard a lot of stuff about the truboost spiking too high and not holding steady boost, which given my first experience test driving with it installed may be a problem. If I do replace it, what should I replace it with?
