If you do have cosworth... and you have an open air intake inside the engine bay(with or without a heatshield) do you ever had idle issues?

I've heard from several people that cosworth cams idle like crap, but then when I searched the forum I couldn't really find any threads on the topic specific to Evo X.

aggressive cams idle little rough, It is all about the tuner how rough it is. You can tell by the idle how much time the tuner spend on YOUR car, not on the map he uploaded on it...
I have mine and when got a good tune, idled very nice. Not smooth but nice , as an aggressive cam should.
great cams.

Showing a cold idle is a poor way of depicting idle quality. Pretty much all cams idle fine at 1400 rpm while cold.

Fully warmed up idle is the true depiction of actual idle quality.

Yea... thats why I started this thread... I'm just debating replacing the cams before I have you tune my car. Since my car idles perfectly fine... until it's warm outside, or the car has a chance to heat up the engine bay... heat soaking everything. (such as driving 30 minutes, parking it... then coming back to it about 20 minutes later after the engine bay has heated up... or maybe just after driving it one hour it starts acting up.... using the A/C is a no go when it starts getting sensitive. You can pretty much expect it to die when you turn on the A/C(after the engine bay is heat soaked). The hotter outside it is.. the more/easier it acts up... and when its cold out it hardly ever does it. Almost seems like a direct correlation to air intake temps.

usually rally cars idles around that rpm even when they fully warm. Mine is over 1200 rpm at idle too. Some even idle around 1800-2000 rpm. So mine does idle a same as cold or hot, Actually when it warms up gets a little deeper and milder , but a same fluctuating.
look at his idle in his evo X below.
Thanks for the comment

Well then your feedback doesn't really apply in this thread since no sane person is going to idle their street car (not blown up race car like yours) at 1200-1800 rpm.

Just like any comment you would have in a "what's your stock turbo boost curve like" thread wouldn't really apply since you use a compressor housing restrictor on your blown up motor so you would have a boost curve that doesn't apply to 99.9% of the street cars here.

I never really had idle issues warm or cold on my gsr with MX-1's but I had the stock airbox.

What I did have was an issue with the engine "loading up" and missfiring real bad down low (don't recall if it was lean miss or rich miss) when getting off the line. I eventually got it 95% cleared up by tweaking the mivec settings i was using at the time. I've since heard of others having similar issues.

that is why i said if you tune it right , it is fine. It is like other upgraded cams.

I'm running the MX-1 too, idle a little rough but stable at about 800rpm.
Stock airbox.
