Unhappy Clutch Pedal won't come back up! HELP!

Title pretty much sums it up.

So as I was driving, all of a sudden I felt my clutch pedal sinking very slightly. Didn't think of it much 'cause it happened every once in a while, so I decided to rebleed my clutch today and now it's happening everytime I rest my foot on the pedal, but this time.. it sinks all the way to the bottom and won't come back up!

Some people I've heard say it's their clutch/throw out bearing, which I highly doubt that's the case for me. Got my clutch replaced 10k miles ago with Clutch Masters FX300 (Stg 3) with a new Throw out bearing.

I've had an issue with my Clutch Master Cylinder before... the retainer clip that holds in all the washers/brushing/pedal shaft popped out and gushed brake fluid inside my car, but once I got it back in, I've never had a issue before.

I'm hoping it's most likely the Slave Cylinder, it's OEM. But I've heard of multiple cases where the lines were damaged, or just the slave cylinder itself being defective.

If anyone wants to see a video to have a better idea, I could do that.

But if anyone's ran into any problems like this, or has a good idea of what's going on, please let me know.

I know that Nissan always had a huge clutch sinking problem, and I think it was due to their slave cylinder as well..

My friend with a WRX also had the clutch sinking problem, would stick to the ground and not come back up... which was also due to a Slave Cylinder issue.

If others think that it could be the same for me, I'll probably go ahead and buy it, since it's the cheapest part and easiest to install out of all three options.

Thanks!

Clutch/Throw out bearing: Clutch Master FX300 (Stage 3) w/ New OEM Throw Out Bearing, done 10k mile ago.
Master Cylinder: SSP CMC V3, had the retainer clip pop out once, but never had an issue after I put it back on.
Slave Cylinder: OEM, has 28k miles on it now.

Also, when I rebleed the slave cylinder. Very very dark brake fluid gushed out everywhere, not sure if it's normal. But so far when I rebleed the clutch, I've never had brake fluid spray everywhere till now.

I broke my slave cylinder last November right before putting it away. Only mine didn't sink I hit the clutch heard it snap and it went on the floor. I doubt that it's your clutch since it's already upgraded and shouldn't have anything to do with a sinking pedal. Best bet would be to take and find it and see what the deal with it is.

My advice take it to a shop / dealership and have them figure it out.

I'll be taking it to the shop next week, but I just want to be able to figure it out in advance and order my part, as this is my only car. Lol

Fluid level seems to be fine, brake fluid reservoir seems to be fine.
But I'm starting to have a feeling that it's going to be a Master Cylinder issue, 'cause when the clutch pedal is sinking down half way, it'll come back up still. But when I rest on it and let it sink all the way down, it won't.

But! If I just use the clutch pedal real quickly for just quick shifts, I'll feel pressure (won't sink) and it comes right back up no problem. Shifter also feels much rougher than usual, which was also affected when the retainer clip from the CMC blew out.

I've called Jeremy from SSP, and he told me to contact Kris, but he hasn't been answering my calls.

Yep either master or slave cylinder...stick you head under the dash and look where the master connects to the pedal---if its wet, it leaking --replace it.. and replace the slave just because--with hydrolics, if you replace one, the other part will go and visa versa---they work together and wear together.. Interesting how you " rest" you foot on your clutch pedal....whats that about? Either your on the clutch or off---there is no rest and if there is---thats the problem related to the cylinder going out---stop that!

^^^
Thanks

I'm very jealous of your CMC Evo 8/9 people!!! Lol, also the 4g63 imo is still the better power maker, but we do have a banging MIVEC and suspension set up.

Only if Mitsubishi decided to combine those two positives and kept it positive, instead of trying to put a positive (rally) and a negative (hybrid) together for the new XI. Lol

It's not as I drive, it's when I'm at a stop light, I'll rest my foot on the clutch pedal, just so I can push it down when the light turns green.

And the body + shaft itself is not wet or leaking, I checked under.

It's prolly the clutch master cylinder. Everybody's gives out sooner or later. Its made of plastic.

Which SSP version do you have? V2 or V3. SSP said that V3 is impossible to break but who knows. If it's not leaking it might just be the clip that you had an issue with before..

Edit.. I didn't know you already replaced it with an SSP one.

You can get a new OEM one, but that will probably wear out again. Or you can either get SSP's or Magnus replacements. I think Magnus is better because it uses an OEM Evo 9 CMC and its cheaper. It does take a while to install though.
I'm already running a SSP V3 CMC, lol. I just have to see if SSP is willing to back up their product and give me a new one, or atleast give me one for a really good deal.

Well with as many failures that they had with the first two versions I know they fully replaced them. We will see.. I kinda lost faith in the SSP CMCs a while back. When I need to order one I guess I will give Magnus a shot..

Since you can't find any fluid leaks, any chance you have air in the slave cylinder?

When I bled mine earlier this year after flushing the brake fluid I had a really hard time getting all of the air out of the slave cylinder (which was different than previous times). It would push out fluid, but still had air in it - and the clutch acted very similar to what you are describing. Only way I could get the air out was to push the fluid out by pushing in the clutch like normal, then with the clutch in and the bleeder still open, move the slave cylinder actuator to pull the fluid back in, then move it back and it would push out air. Took about 45 minutes of doing it this way to get the air out so that it worked normally. I've driven about 5K miles since then and haven't had any issues.
