Clutch slipping?
Clutch slipping?
Whenever I try accelerating quickly the tach will jump 1-2k rpm for a second or two depending on how hard I push on the gas. After this happens it will drop back down and actually start accelerating. I don't have any issues with gears catching or accelerating slowly. After speaking with my local Mitsubishi service center and them saying "that's normal once your car is broken in", I turned to the forums. Does/has this happened to anyone else?
I haven't read any reviews of AMS's clutch, but they certainly make solid products. I'd shoot for whatever numbers you plan on hitting, just be aware that an increased pressure load can kill your clutch master cylinder.
I just purchased a Works Stage 1 for pretty cheap along with a Magnus CMC to be safe. Exedy gets good reviews, I've seen mixed reviews from Spec and heard not so great things about ACT.

i own an ACT i love it. Act street disk, spec, or even exedy full face disks would work fine for you. works also has one. exedy is the maker of the oem disk. whatever your needs are... call Adam @maperformance. they are good guys and always give lowest price they can. good luck with your decision. there are others on here in your same boat. read what they have used, find some X's around you with aftermarket clutch. see if they will let you take it for a spin to see. not everyone likes all clutches. just like not everyone likes nikes. If you decide to do magnus install yourself, let me know i just did mine and will give you some pointers.
if you plan on upgrading the clutch, you might as well do the conversion. true some have been running the ring for a while. but it is just a band-aid solution. it is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when. some clutches take longer than others, but will happen sooner or later with oem cmc. since you have to take all the same stuff out anyway might as well do it so you don't have to get in there again

Here is my review of the ACT HD 6 Puck sprung/streetlite flywheel/AMS reinforcement ring. That is what I went with after my stock clutch went out. There are plenty of reviews of different clutches and flywheel combos people have went with. If I could do it over again, I probably would have kept my stock flywheel and just had it resurfaced. But I am definitely not complaining with my setup.
