boost creep issue...6262 tial mvr 44mm.

alright guys....
setup is the shearerfab kit with 6262 .82 backhousing.

had a 5psi spring in the wategate (tial mvr 44mm.) connected to a hallman MBC. threw the car on the dyno...hit 24psi and only held about 22 at redline. crushed the BOV and now hit 26psi and held roughly 24 at redline. we figured my wastegate spring was too weak... SO NOW...

i did the 20 psi spring setup from tial...car overboosting straight to 28psi NO MBC.
then we did the 14psi spring setup..car now hit 20psi...but had BOOST CREEP and kept rising to 28.

NOW i get mad and throw the 5psi spring back in it...car now hits 25psi..but instead of dropping off boost like it did previously, it boost creeps again to 28+..

28 psi seems to be the magic number here...

ANYONE know if this could be Boost Leak related?..or maybe to the BOV crush?...

thanks alot guys any help would be appreciated..

cliffnotes - 5psi spring in wastegate used to taper down boost..now its boost creeps...solution?

IIRC too low of timing or to much fuel can cause boost creep.

Any weather differences? Cooler weather can induce it too...

The over boosting with 20psi spring is normal because that turbo comes on so violently that the wastegate cannot open fast enough with those heavy springs in there, I learned that too. But with the 14 psi or 5 psi springs it should not do that. The 14psi spring should go to 14psi and hold no problem with no mbc. When you changed the springs were you very careful putting the wastegate back together to make sure all of those springs did not get bunched up and make sure everything seated properly? What about that ring thing that goes on the base of the wastegate that wastegate is a pia to get on I would double check to make sure its seated properly? If all of that checks out I would just start double checking all of my intercooler piping clamps and vacuum lines to make sure they are not leaking or off. If your bov was crushed before and gave you no problems that's probably not the issue but if you have one you can swap to to double check that could eliminate a variable.

Cold weather will induce creep and timing changes will modify boost levels as well.

It's common to see a manual boost control hit a set psi and fall off a few psi towards redline.

A 3-port could probably fix this problem

we'll have to play with it this upcoming friday again with my tuner...

**the ring in the seat of the wastegate is seated properly.
**the weather is colder yes, but it creeps almost 15psi over where it should be which is not normal
**the BOV was crushed recently so MAYBE that may have influenced it

do you guys think the BOV crush might have influenced it?...also a boost leak? thanks

If the BOV was leaking and now it's not it will make a difference. I would check for boost leaks too.
