The X turbo housing is much more restrictive, it won't make as much power as the 8/9 variants but will spool faster.

However, the 4b11 is a more efficient engine, they aren't the same. The head is better too. However that being said, they took steps back in some areas, lol.

I was talking with the ef turbos not stock. So basically its the same as what the dsm was. 1g much better then the 2g in pretty much all aspects, BUT 2g head was better and thats about it.

Not really, the X motor is a superior motor in power making ability/efficiency. It's debatable weaker in stock form though. The big fall back in the X is simply weight, the car is fat. Otherwise, given its extra weight, it still handles better but it is a tamer car overall. If it wanted a straight racecar i'd still prefer a 9 myself.

Not trying to start a debate, but its not really at all like the 1g to a 2g as its a totally new motor/car really.

No no no not tring to debate it at all I just don't know much about the x. I have never been a fan of it no offence to the x owners or nothing. I just never was interested in them so I am kinda dumb when it comes to why thats all.

Dealers out here have issues with people test driving them. I tried to drive a 8 and 9 way back when and they wouldn't even let me drive one.

Find a dealer with a used one, or a friend with a modded one. What convinced me was driving Scheides' and Simulatedwood's cars when I was up in Minnesota for an event weekend.

yes the screen name is confusing i also have a 03 evo as my drag car but back on topic i have a 2.2l stoker that spools a little bit faster maybe 4200-4400 but very close to 4000 and better than a fp black spool very happy with map's turbos for a direct bolt on... i ve been a ams fan since 2003 when i bought my first evo and have always had ams everything, but for stock frame turbo i would recommend Map turbo

if you autox a lot, get the EF2, otherwise you'll be find with an EF3

(this conclusion is made from obsessing over a bunch of dyno charts and personal autox experience in my stock turbo evo, don't have any personal experience with EF turbos)
