This is my first thread so if i make any mistakes sorry
I have a evo 10 that is waiting for its erl motor to arrive from ups , the car is being built by a local shop in illinois, but i need a little insight on which turbo i should use and what is the best a/r to go with? the turbo will be a 6262 or 6266 this is not a drag car but a road race car . car will be running on 93 i had a bad experience running e85

I would say a HTA35r would give you a much better midrange for a track than the 6262 while still having a great top end my .02

I'd go with a GTX3576 in a 0.82 A/R turbine housing since this is a road racing application. It'll do 600whp on E85. On 93 octane.... not sure, but I figure at least 500whp. 550whp is probably asking too much for 93 octane, but I really don't know, just guessing on the pump gas numbers.

Why not go with a stock appearing turbo? you can make just as much power and if 500 550 for a road race car is the goal then I think that may be a better option. You would get faster spool being stock size and you would have a great powerband.

Stock appearing turbo includes a stock turbine housing which is very small. That equals a lot of back pressure on the engine which can raise EGTs and also add stress. They may be okay for a quick burst down the drag strip, but not good for endurance events such as road racing.

If you can get ahold of a BW EFR 7670, I think that'd go great with the 2.2L ERL kit for road racing. You should have a pretty usable power band and plenty of power. If you plan on doing some head work and up the rev limit to 8000rpm, then the 8374 might be good, but i cant say i've seen much in terms of results on that particular trim.

what shop are you working with, btw? Being in IL, have you looked into the AMS kits?

the hta3586 would be my choice, I would however consider different fuel choice if you plan on road racing the car. Fuel will be a limiting factor on power and reliability.

thanx for all the input , before i had a red on the car it made 543 dyno jet on e85 but cause of the back pressure you get a nasty tapper so no stock frame for me and i all ready have a t3 kit .The reason for the perciscion and not the garrett or borgwarner comes down to bang for buck .i spoke to dan at ams last night and iam going to go with the 6266.63 ar . once again thanx for the input i will post pic of the car

Just to give fair warning..... might be cheaper now, but more expensive later. I know a guy on his third Precision, which has started smoking again, and he already has a spare CHRA ready to go in anticipation that it was going to start smoking. I said to him... you know for all time and money you spent replacing those things, you could have easily afforded the Garrett/BW.

Hands down a 6266. We have been doing a lot of testing with this turbo. If it's a street car.... this turbo is a beast.

On a 2.0L we put down 730whp at 35psi. We made 27psi by 4500rpms using a .82 a/r v-band turbine housing. Torque is great. It's a perfect street turbo in my eyes.

I think you better do some more research on this. There are plenty of guys using stock turbos making 500 whp that use these turbos for road racing. Kracka is one of them I can think of off the top of my head and he is making 500 pump gas on an ef3. My turbo doesn't use a stock housing it uses a different housing so there again fail.
