E-85
E-85
So I'm fairly new to my X, but had an 8 for awhile. Is it just me, or are a lot less people using E85 in X's than 8/9's? I loved it in my old 8. Is it just because people are holding on to their warranties? I'm thinking even the best dealer might have some problems with you running E85 and trying to warranty engine parts. Does E85 bring the torque to dangerous levels for 4B11T's on the stock turbo? Some other reason? I'm just curious since E85 owns so hard in 8/9's that everyone who possibly can runs it.
Being that there's an off the shelf map for the Accesport, I have to figure you can run E85 quite safely on an X.
Just as there were almost no E85 users on the 8/9 in 2006, there are almost none on the X in 2011. Wait till warranties expire (and almost more importantly, second owners have the car), then you'll see the usage go up.
My only hold up is the availability in my area, but I will be dropping some 850cc injectors in soon enough with the ability to at least switch to it when I'm around it.
My only big question is how empty is empty enough to switch from E85 to 93 and back? I would assume if you wait until after the 2nd fuel chime you're good, but I'd like to know that for sure.

You want it to be as empty as possible, and go for "100% gas" 93 for that fill up. That way, even if you have a gallon of E85 left, you're still less than E10 overall. I usually get about 12.5 gallons in filling up around the second chime, and the tank is supposedly 14.5 gallons. It'd PROBABLY be fine then, but if you're switching long term, you might wanna go easy for half that tank and top it off with 93 before doing any beating on it.
