Does a turbocharge engine really need a turbo timer?
Noob question from a noob..
As far as i know the timers will put the motor on idle for a while, giving time for lube oil flowing out of the bearings. (correct me if I'm wrong).
If turbo timer are so important, why mitsubishi did not install it out of the factory on all evo's?. Is it ok not to use the timer & stop the engine directly?

No they arent needed. Granted spirited driving and instantly turning your engine off isnt recommended. I don't know of any car to have one from the factory... that's just a little give away.
On newer turbo set ups, no. The older yes. This is because most new setups have both oil ant coolant lines feeding the turbo. Older set ups only have oil lines. Only way to cool these some what properly was to use a timer. This allowed the motor to run for given time to circulate "cooler" oil thru the turbo to cool it down.
If you are drivin normal and not too hard, when you get to your destination it is fine to shut down. Of your coming off highway or after running it hard, just a normal ride to the house will be fine.

As mentioned earlier, they are necessary for older turbos.
They're not necessary for newer turbos. They might be necessary for some drivers of newer turbos though, if you're at the race track and you turn your car off the second you leave the track you might do some damage.
I just make sure I take the last 5 minutes of driving easy and give it 10 or 15 seconds before switching it off.

Q: What does a turbo timer do?
A: Everything a reasonable owner should. Idle for a minute after running hard.
They are pointless, unnecessary add-ons. I have put over 280+K miles on turbo cars and never onwned these worthless investments. You either run the car at idle after a hard run or just don't boost hard when you are nearing the end of a drive. Never a failed turbo.. ever. Don't need it.

I wouldn't say they're useless though.
I use mine to warm my car up sometimes and I use it leave my car running if I'm only going to park it for a minute.
But to protect your turbo, it shouldn't be necessary.
