Tarmac - Gravel - Snow
not true... all the power goes trough the centre diff where it is split 50/50... Tarmac/gravel/snow modes deal with the way the center clutch pack limits slip and the way in which the rear AYC diff shuffles torque left and right..
for launching it doesn't matter which mode you use... if anything , snow will be your best bet...

This must be one of the ten worst threads in the history of this site. The amount of pure nonsense is astounding.
Yep. That's right. When you pull the e-brake the center diff ceases to exist and the tranny is magically connected directly to the front diff. Cool, eh?
sigh
The closest the above comes to correct is this: when you pull the e-brake, the ACD stays fully open. Thus, rather than becoming FWD, what actually happens is that, suddenly, you have a 2:1 up-ratio to the front diff, since - assuming the e-brake locks the rears - the rear output from the center diff is no longer turning. This is why it is very important to hit the clutch when you do a hand-brake turn.
ps. I loved all the suggested values for the front/rear torque split on Page 1 of this thread.
