I need some quick advice.
After being reassured that they would change my filter out with the transmission service I agreed to take my MR to have transmission, rear diff and transfer case fluids changed. I get a call stating they had good news for me that the bill would be roughly $95 cheaper. I asked if the filter was changed and he said no its not needed for this service. I thought I made it clear I wanted the filter changed and it didn't happen.
Im not particularly good at confronting people about these sort of things but I'm pissed and need some pointers on what to say.
Please help.

I can't wait until school starts for you.
I had to explain to the tech and service guy that the MR has an external filter for the transmission that is indeed removeable and can be replaced. They disagreed and referred to the techs book after a few minutes they returned al apologized. I'm not ever gonna take my car to either of the dealerships here in Albuquerque.
Can I change the filter without having to empty the fluid from my tranny? I really don't want these guys to ever touch my car again.

Sorry for being a dick
I saw the thread title and just had to. If the filter is external there shouldn't be any problems with a simple swap. I'd fill the new filter with fluid for sure.
Personally I don't trust anyone with doing honest work on my car. Not even childhood friends. It makes life a pain but is necessary since there are no good shops anywhere near me.
Id get a copy of the factory service manual and follow any procedures for priming If they exist.

I'd do it myself but I really don't have the work area to do this type of job. Add in a 5 month old and it makes the task that much harder to accomplish.
It just kind of blows because locally its an Evo X waste land. It wasn't so bad with my VIII but if I can't get some proper maintenance how am I supposed to get a a decent tune. Which I can't.
I need a garage.
No hard feelings and I apologize for my response.
