Yes, that's how MAF cars act with MAF only. MAF sees air, provides fuel for said air, if you dump some air, you have less air with the same fuel...meaning very rich.
On our car, the MAF will see the air coming in, but the MAP will see the throttle close and cut fuel. A VTA BOV acts the same and provides the same driveability as a recirculated valve.

I actually just got an ngr type s bov..ricer in me=satisfied
Don't worry I've been "testing" VTA for over 4 years and 77,000 miles daily driven...no problems to this very day
i'm surprised the majority of folks haven't come in here to bash your logic and say VTA is bad and you are flooding your engine with fuel.
i tested vta for a week, saw no discernible change on the wideband. i went back to recirc cause i dont need noise.
