AEM Wideband Failsafe Gauge
AEM Wideband Failsafe Gauge
Hello gentlemen,
I'm looking at the AEM Wideband Failsafe Gauge, which has a lot of nice features. I like the two-gauges-in-one approach, and I like the data logging. However, being new to the X, I'm trying to figure out what could be done with the failsafe ground.
Do any of you have this gauge setup with the failsafe? If so, what did you hook it up to? Meaning, what does the failsafe trigger on the X?
Just looking for options and ideas. Thanks!

I am running this on my evo 8. So the grounded output has lots of uses.
You can wire it up to a boost solonoid to cut the boost, a warning light that will be bright as hell, if you have an ignition box, you can trigger a rev limiter, if you have a patch on your ecu, you can put a grounded input to the stock ecu and switch maps, and do damn near anything you want.
This is what AMS did with it:

I believe the Evo X is a little different in terms of what could be controlled by the failsafe, no? Other than an LED light on the dash, I'm told by the local shop(s) that anything else would be complicated. Thoughts?

This gauge is complicated. Initial install wasn't to bad but getting it fine tuned has been a lil tough for me. i have AFR on the digital readout and boost around the outside. But the Boost is not working for some reason. Also the numbers around the outside do not have a back light which would be nice to see. i haven't even started to fookk with the failsafe setting yet. beyond my scope of doing things so gonna have a friend help with the rest.
Sure would be nice to see a detailed install with pictures from someone that knows what there doing!
