Evo X final drive feeler
+1
To answer some of the groups questions . If the shep final drive has seen issues with gearing being to long then this 4.0 isn't getting any better for the bulk of the Evo x owners, it's just going to make it longer. Now making tq/hp or revving higher than stock motors could have an application for this.
Smaller final drive numbers = longer gears and larger numbers = shorter gears

Too many maybes not enough would buy at $800 for sure. Personally I would like to see a 4.30 set but even the 4.0 is fine. Simple fact of the matter is the stock 4.687 sucks and we cant swap ratios like the 4-9 to make a better suited 5 speed. Without a dog box the only option is final drive but the community really needs to come together on this one before Tomioka will commit. FWIW a 4.0 FD in a 2.0L Evo 8 is perfectly streetable and driven by Luke's wife.

While I understand where you are coming from, Tomioka considers the 8/9 to proof of concept. The X is geared almost identical to a IX other than 1st gear which is half way between an 8 and a 9.
I'd rather have a 4.3 but would settle for the 4.0
if the sale price is going to be 800. could we do a group buy in? pay half up front with a realistic eta. get 20 buyers (im sure some may even buy 2), pay the remainder when product is ready for delivery. No refunds. If someone wants to flake down the road, then they simply gave a "donation" for the development of the product.

They should make a poll for either the 4.0 or the 4.3 to see what people would want more. Forget track application, I think this would be more popular for a daily driver if you could drop the RPMs at cruising speed.
