GrimmSpeed Install without tune?
GrimmSpeed Install without tune?
I have an AP Intake, CNT catless turboback, ACT HD & Streetlite, and DepoRacing UICP installed. Factory 2008 Tune. I also have in the garage a 3.5" DepoRacing FMIC and LICP, ID1000s, GSC S2 Cams and titanium valvesprings, and a GrimmSpeed EBC. I wanna install everything in the springtime when I get tuned but for now I wanna put the EBC on to maintain the peak boost levels but am I doing more harm than good with that? Or will it be safe? Please let me know. Thanks!

beta cobb maps are back out. i'd wait and get a pro-tune with everything. no sense in rushing at this point. tune is NEEDED!
you need a tune!

The GrimmSpeed™ Mitsubishi EVO Boost Control Solenoid is designed to work with your factory computer (requires tuning). It will not reduce the life of your factory computer because it is designed to draw the same ammount of power as the factory BCS but flows better and reacts faster. It plugs in and requires no splicing or soldering of resistors. With the included bracket you can bolt it in, plug in the connector, and start tuning for fast boost response, increased boost pressure and free up lots of power. Planning on returning the car to stock? Just reverse installation.
Yea as long as you stay out of boost. It's an easy install though. why not just install it there? Or if you do hook it up just run a vacuum line from the compressor to the waste gate.

I had driven my car with the GS 3port installed for 2 weeks before my tune and had no issues. It can and will overboost so be easy with the gas. As well as the boost will come up ALOT faster. I ended up going into my rom and setting the WGDC to 0 so it cut the boost off at 20psi.
So in a short answer, can you drive with it installed without a tune? Yes, if you dont go WOT.

Thank you
That's what I needed to know!
Dude come on.
Sure he answered the question as literally as possible. But is driving your Evo w/ 3port attached without a tune suitable? No. I can use a chainsaw to open a beer bottle but how smart is that? It's your car. Your money. Your time. But I'd re-think installing without a tune. Even the 'Snake709' admitted to tuning by limiting his boost to 20 PSI (even if it was a **** poor method).
Why would you buy a 30-40K car to only screw it up?
