Depending on which intake setup (amongst other things) can make different sounds.

It has to do with turbo cold side size, size of the intake pipe and what filter (filter not so much) but it has to do with all the air being sucked into the turbo.

Ok what I don't understand is how that video looked like he was on a dyno?
Did he put it in drive, smash the brakes, and give it gas???
I don't buy auto-trans vehicles, so maybe there's some magical wizardry I don't know about, but that didn't look right.

If you have a cone filter, you should hear your turbo at least a little. Don't try hearing it while at a standstill or parked - your turbo shouldn't be spooling a ton at a standstill unless you're floored.

Also, this guy probably had a tune so he is running a lot more boost than you if you are on the stock tune.

that looks like hes putting load on the motor, not just revving it. like he has the brakes on so the car doesnt move while it slips the clutch.

has to be, the turbo wont spool like that without load.

Our turbos are too big to spool without a load. I think he had the e-brake on and slipped the clutch while giving it gas.

Other cars with smaller turbos on the other hand.. the turbo will spool up a bit even without load

its a x MR so i think he was in drive stalling it up thus putting load on the car spooling the turbo. just an opinion

A solid metal intake pipe and an open air filter element will get you that sound. Any soft materials like rubber/plastic dampen the sound and reduce its volume.

Jack the car up so all 4 are off the ground put it gear with foot on brake and let it spin up as you modulate the brake, simple.
