reading an AWD "service required" code

I've searched around and can't find a clear answer to this.

I have the dreaded "service required" warning with the picture of the driveline with the front wheels turned. You know, the one that usually means that your ACD/AYC pump is dead.

My cheapo code-reader sees nothing. The fancier, CanBus reader at the car-parts place sees nothing. The even fancier reader at the Chrysler dealership sees nothing. I have not gone to a Mitsu dealership (and I really, really, do not want to), so I don't know what a MUT would say, if anything.

My question - now that we're in the fourth paragraph - is this: those of you who have had this warning display and have had your code read successfully (e.g., the dreaded c161e), using what tool was the code read?

First of all, is there a CEL. If not, the ODBII reader will not pick up anything.

If you do have a CEL:
Is there an Autozone by you? They give free code reads but not sure if they can give you info on manufacturer specific codes. Hey, it's a free diagnostic and worth a try. Good luck!

No MIL/CEL.

Already went to Autozone; see third paragraph in first post.

I should have mentioned in the first post that I know that AccessPorts can read this code.

I'm curious as well. Is there a way to do this with Evoscan? If there is I can't figure it out.

I have no clue. In fact, now that it comes up, I cannot find any clear verification that EvoScan can read a cXXXX code. I'm only positive that AccessPort can.
