My car makes a weird sound between 2500-3000 rpm. Its much louder in person so you really need to listen carefully.

Hard to pinpoint a noise from a video. Exhaust leaks are common culprits if it happens at a certain rpm range where vibration/harmonics hit just right to make a vibratory sound. Are you on an aftermarket exhaust? Other mods? Miles on your car? Does the sound happen when you are in neutral and just rev it up to that rpm range?

Could be a transfer case whine, but really hard to definitively say without being there and under the car.

 

Hey thanks for the quick response! I really appreciate it! Anyways. Everything is stock and I currently have 5k on it. I haven't tried putting it in neutral and rev it yet. But let say i recreated the sound while the car is in neutral, what could be the cause?


EDIT** Ok I just ran outside to see if it makes that same sound in neutral and it doesn't. Seems like the sound can only be created while the car is moving. BTW the car doesn't make the sound till about 5-10 mins of driving from a dead start. So if the car been sitting for about an hour or two once I start it and drive around I won't hear anything till about 5-10 mins of driving

could involve the transfer case or clutch. If you only have 5k miles on it, is it still under warranty?

 

Yeah I still have warranty but they said the noise is normal xD
Its an MR btw. Correct me if i'm wrong. If its the tcase the noise continues to get louder as the rpm climbs right? The noise im describing only happens from 2500-3000 then it completely disappears as the rpm gets passed 3000

 

I don't know if this is the rite forum but I had a question about my 2011 evo x gsr there is a squealing noise at idle only when the rpms drop and stops once they go back to normal I don't know if it is something I should be worried about it sounds like it is coming from under the car and not the engine bay my mods are ams intake ams cat back grimmspeed bcs cobb bov
