Spool time Gt3582 Vs. GT4202R

Whats up guys. Been looking and I haven't found much on spool time. Now I know there is a lot that goes in to when and how fast a turbo spools up. But is it passable to spool a 4202r before 4000 grand. I am new to this is seen, I come from the V8 side.

No, not on a 2.0L evo. Honestly, even with the improvements in mivec, a built motor with an extra 20% displacement (2.4L) and all the supporting mods for spool like properly built header and twinscroll...I'd still say no, not a prayer.

The 4202r is a 1000whp+ turbo...you will be lucky to see that spool before 6k rpms.

If you want a big *** turbo with spool around 4000, get the EFR 9180 or try the precision 6466, another decent big turbo. However, you will need a 2.2-2.4 to try and get it spooled where you want.

Yea looking like I am having to re think some things I am shooting for a strong 500whp/400wtq on an SAE Dyno. This brand name this is like the whole suby vs. Honda vs. evo thing.. I'll just pull out my junk and prove my stuff.

Go talk to English Racing. They are one of the best evo shops in the country and are very close to you in Camas Washington.

Figure out your main requirements:

Fuel (pump, e85, race)
Engine (Stock, Built)
Engine Management (Factory based or Stand Alone)
Performance figures (1/4 mile, 60-130, lap times ,etc)

Here are fairly simple examples that meet your HP requirement:

Thanks but no thanks. If go out of state I will see Boostin or Hollywood or UT_EvoX.

It is looking like I am going to run gt35R t3 twin screw. Push comes I can machine it to T4 or cut it off and weld a T4 flange on. But I dont see a need for that. I will in the end have a 2.2 kit when I pull the engine to replace the rods and install main studs. The head will be ported and polished with over sized valves and better valve train parts. As well as 9.5 C/R Manley Platinum slugs, Manley TT I beam rods. I dont give 2 rips about drag slips. Ant F-Tard can run a 1/4 mile. I care about 40-140 times and road course.

You don't need a 35r for 500whp..

Yea its really looking like an FP will get me there and leave a bit of room to play with to run a tune for E99 for track days. Thing is I hate precession turbo.. Lots of failures in them..

I know this is kind of old but..

500whp on what? Dynojet? Virtual Dyno? Mustang Dyno? For your goals, I would stick with a Fully ported Evo 9 based turbo with billet wheel upgrade. Should get up and boogie before 4000rpm all day.
For example, My setup spools my turbo by 4500rpm in 3rd. Less in higher gears and thats on pump gas, add in some E85 and spool time decreases even more. This turbo is good for almost 800whp. For only 500whp, the turbo mentioned above will do it.
