Give this article a read:

You'll probably want to calculate a few numbers after reading it, so get your calculator out.

The GTX3582 has more power potential with very little additional lag over the GTX3576. You will want to built the trans at some point anyway as it won't last at those power levels anyway. I'm going with the 3582 in a couple weeks. Go big or go home.

I REALLY like the gtx3576R-

we have had some serious surge issues with the GTX3582 variant

Really? What size inlet were you using? Surging is usually caused by a lack of airflow. What is the setup on the car like?

I have a 3582r and no surging issues to date. I'm running the 4in inlet with a 3.5in intake though so I'm not sure about guys with the 3in inlet. Anyways it does have more lag then what I wanted but i can live with it for now. I had to have a custom intake and uicp made for this variant so you may want to factor that in before getting a 4in inlet. The amount of money I invested in this turbo I could have just sold my bolt ons and got an ets t3 kit.

FYI, page 3 of the article has a direct comparison of the GTX3576R vs. GTX3582R on a STI. Same car, same dyno, same turbine housing.

Honestly if you arent running a 2.2 or larger youll get bored of the gtx82 rather quick. I don't hit full boost till ~5200 rpm.

Crap I got my numbers mixed up. I was thinking of the 3076 which doesn't really have enough compressor for the turbine size.

We were running our LMP kit with a 1.03 hotside (biggest offered in Vband) with a 4" intake and antisurge cover-

you cant give it more airflow than that- our standard billet 3582 doesnt surge- nor did the 3576GTX in the smaller A/R hotside-

we have had some issue with new garrett Aero surging-

I would recommend the 3576 or consider other options, ours, FP's etc-

Id like to see the setups you guys are running- i have plots on 2 liters of our 35R setups hitting 25psi by 4200 rpm-

Im running s2 cams with an ets manifold. No port work on the head or the intake manifold. I'm not sure if my lag is normal or due to the larger diameter inlet but I would love be to spool in the 4ks

I can also post my plots if you want to see
