Time to worry or no?
Hey there everyone, I have a 2010 evo X gsr with about 40k miles on it.
I track my car for time trials on full road course tracks once a month for 5 months a year. Each session is about 15 to 20 min long, and the car sits between 5k and 8k RPM the whole time as i set lap times.
I just switched to E85 to bump me up to 425whp and 375wtq
So, do i need to start worrying about blowing the internals yet?
How much longer can i drive this hard on stock internals?
( I know, I know there are stories of people who have driven forever/one day on their high hp car and - what I am wondering is = how close to the edge am I pushing it? )
If you were to give odds to my chance of snapping a rod or some such at the next track day - what would you put my odds at?

What got me wondering was the fact of how hard i drive the car. Sure, gunning it around town every so often can be dangerous if you have high hp...
but how much harder does track racing work a car?
Well from what I've seen in the past and with friends you could have 500+whp/wtq and not kill your internals if you drive casually ha. The fact you are pushing it hard (like it should be) tells me that you don't just cruise around the track. Getting in and out of full throttle hard can really wear down everything and it's just a matter of time.
Honestly I'd say you are doing pretty good/above the norm for that type of racing on a stock motor. I have friends that race the same amount of the year as you describe and they rebuild engines every season. I'm sure a few others can comment with more Evo experience but I'd say its only a matter of time from here on out. Good luck and keep enjoying the car how it was designed.

To the thread-starter: no stomping on the gas pedal at 2500 rpm and go back to focusing on driving.
