Evo X Oil Leak from Valves
Evo X Guru's....what's your opinion?
I noticed I was smoking one day, and it was oil for sure. Three days later I drove her and the symptoms doubled...stinky smoke smoke smoke at idle and take off, WOT...nothing. Compression came back ****, and leakdown didn't reveal anything. Spark plug @ cyl #4 is covered in oil at the tip and electrode. I ordered valve seals and a timing chain, and just replaced them.
Fired her up, and after she gets warm...shes starts smoking.
Now here's the kicker:
I warmed her up and she starts to smoke at about 140F. I pulled the plug (which again has oil on threads and tip) and there was smoke billowing from the spark plug hole like the top of a volcano. I manually cranked the motor to see if it would stop when I opened and closed the valves...and it does. When a valve opens, she smokes, when it closes, she doesn't. Shine a light down the spark plug hole, and the piston is wet. Keep in mind...WHEN SHE IS 180F AND I PULL A PLUG, IT SMOKES FROM THE SPARK PLUG HOLE ONLY IF A VALVE IS OPEN (like it's dripping onto a hot piston).
I just pulled the cams again, and the seals look fine. The valves don't have any noticeable play, and all seals are seated properly.
Here's is my question...
The valve seal seals over the guide, and seals around the stem. Where is the oil coming from?
Any other opinions or ideas? Just want to pick your brains. It's kind of fun trying to figure it out
PS: THE OEM VALVE SEALS ARE THE SAME FOR INTAKE AND EXHAUST RIGHT? MITSU ONLY HAS 1 PART NUMBER
