ACD Winter Question

Idk if this was posted up yet but as far as the ACD going out what I've read is that the main problem is rust/corrosion and from the fluid freezing. My question is that is there a type of fluid you can replace for it to not freeze and mount on a ACD guard?

They still do fail. A guard will help but it will still fail eventually. The relocation kit will be even better but I think even with it the pump will still fail eventually. A lot depends on your location and if salt is used in the winter. I live in the northeast by the ocean so the air is "salty" and I doubt even a relocation kit will permanently fix the issue but I will get one when this pump fails.

i just recently read that mitsubishi is covering all evo x until 100k miles but it has to be stock. Ive read that some use different fluid so it doesnt freeze up in the winter.

i wouldn't bother changing the fluids to try to make it last longer. There are mixed reviews some say they swap it no problem some complain about mods to the car. Depends on the dealer!

You have three choices:

1: pull the pump, RTV the seams where there's no seal and paint the whole unit to try to weatherproof it and likely void the warranty
2. relocate the pump into the trunk, lose some trunk space, likely void the warranty, and spend a good deal of effort or money in the process
3. treat it as a wear item and be prepared to shell out $950 when it fails after about 30,000mi in the salt belt
