Accidentally shifting into first after red lining second
So I accidentally shifted into first gear after redlining second because my 2015 gearbox is extremely notchy and has a hard time getting to third from second. I did this twice, and it felt like I broke something but the car drove fine for a long time after doing so. I'm not new to driving manual or anything so it's not really my newbieness that did it. Is everything okay? I'm honestly scared. The car has less than 1000 miles on it.
Hope the car is alright man. Please stop launching the car or you will be telling daddy that the car needs a new clutch. The clutch on your car is known to need replacement under 5k miles if abused and driven by extreme noobs. Sorry to yell but your age group is pissing me off today.
i know lots of adults that beat the crap out of their cars. street racing, launching to show off to their buddies, etc.
it's not just kids.
OP not included, since i don't know him.. but the current generation of kids with performance cars is... well, different.

17 year old kid with a 35k car, a dad that thinks buying your son an Evo as his first car is a good idea, an Evo being redlined in the first week of its life under 1k (what's a break in period?), a delusional kid that is not a noob at driving a manual but just got his first car (driving your buddy's car in a parking lot does not equate to being experienced), then he blames the cars notchiness for going 1st instead of 3rd. Twice! Then he talks about launching the car from a stop frequently and something about at redline. SMH kids nowadays have zero respect. I got my Evo in 2008 at 26 years old after multiple manual sports cars. I still babied that car until I got used to it and felt more comfortable.

don't let him get to ya. for every negative person on this forum, there is at least one that is helpful. in all seriousness, there are some REALLY knowledgeable people on here.
i try to stick to the tech articles. that's usually where they hang out. most forums are absolute crap for social networking LOL. in your case, it still found you haha.

Yeah, I'm glad there are some friendly people on the forums. Thanks. I don't plan on doing too much to the car yet, I want it to be reliable and fast at the same time. For now I'm saving up for the Q300. After that it's Cobb AP, intake, test pipe, downpipe, protune. If I'm at 320whp or more at that point then I'll stop for a while, if not, I'll start on the internals and manifolds.
those are very reasonable goals. you may need injectors, though. that's an easy swap, so no biggie there. some 750cc injectors are pretty danged cheap, idle nice, and give you some head room. stock injectors will do right around 300whp.
the car would live foreeeeeeeeeeeever at 320whp and the rest of your mod list will support it.
good luck, man.

Thanks man. I didn't think I'd need injectors. I know so much more about Subarus than I do Evos. I didn't think I'd ever get an Evo and my cousin has a 2014 WRX that we always work on together. 750cc you said? What brand injectors should I consider?
Oh I forgot to mention that I'll be doing front and rear sway bars. Do you think I'll need coilovers or stiffer, lower springs? I'm going to be autocrossing a lot next summer, that's why I'm asking.
a lot of it depends on which class you want to run in AX. if you don't care about classes and points, then you're free to swap out any parts you like. all classes have limits on what you can do. you can download their rule book here:
http://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules
start at "street" and work your way through the classes until you find one that lists the mods you want to do. as you move up classes they allow a couple more modifications before bumping you up again.
as for the injectors, you COULD get by with a smaller one. i shoot for 80% duty cycle, or less. there really isn't any reason to not use a larger one so it doesn't have to work as hard. even on my WRX i ran Sti injectors with less than 300whp (i thought it would make more LOL).
i use Fuel Injector Clinic and can vouch for them, but have had good luck with RC in the past (though i haven't used their Evo injectors). Injector Dynamics seem to work well. Precision seem to do okay too. if i were to recommend one brand, it would be FIC.
p.s. while my Evo is down, i autocrossed my civic. it's a 2000 DX, A/T, 120k miles and completely stock. i had a blast.
you don't need anything for autox other than the basic stuff they check for at tech: enough brake pad, battery tie down, no leaking fluids, helmet, etc.
don't let a stock car keep you from having fun.
beside, once you start modding, it's a never-ending battle of trying to find that perfect combination of parts, tuning, and driving style (assuming you decide to take it serious). sometimes you lose sight of just enjoying the drive haha.
sorry for the lengthy replies. i'm trying to pass time at work.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIIIT. drop it in D2 and then just chill and enjoy the course LOL. it's super easy to hit the apexes and drive a near-perfect line.
it was almost as much fun as when i used to drive my friend's Neon R/T, which was surprisingly fast.

Wow you're actually an ******* LOL I drove my brother's 2011 Civic Si for around 6 months while he was at a co-op in Ohio working at Honda. So don't come to me with that ****. Not to mention that I pay 2/3 of this car myself, so don't come to me with that daddy **** either. The car has almost 800 miles on it so the break-in is done. I can redline whenever I want. Honestly, I was told to stay off the forums because apparently people were rude but I didn't think they were this rude. You're also a piece of **** for thinking that this age group is dumb. Yeah, a lot of them are stuck on their phones all day and the rest are smoking weed. Why don't you just respect the fact that instead of doing the kind of stuff that my friends do (drinking, partying, smoking weed, LSD) I've found refuge in another thing; Cars. Yeah I like to redline my $35k car often. Deal with it. It's better than lying to my parents saying I'm going to the library then going and getting ****ed up with my homies. Man, stay off this thread. I need the opinions of people who are knowledgable and friendly. Not the 2 cents of someone who has misplaced anger and bashes on a kid for being able to afford an Evo at age 17.
I should not have called you out, so sorry bud. Let's leave it at that.
