knock low rpms run at 28lb 91octane gas 2014 gsr
ok so im a bit nervous becuase i feel like i can get some damage in my motor
im running with 91 octane gas and tuned at 28lb the cars feels great and
hit 365.4 hp and 456.2 torque on dynocom but i get up to 14-16 knock readings
in my cobb ap so when i check the loggs on high rpms not one knock is there but
when crusing at 3500rpms -3750rpms-4000rpms or even after taking off a from
a stop light it gets up to 2knock once in a cell and like 1 knocks on like 4 cells but never in high rpms at wot
what would you guys recomend?? lower the boost?? or is it possible to run 28.5 psi
with out having damage in the motor even if that means having like a 9* in the ignition advance at 7000rpms
current mods:
wide mouth custom
3 port grimmspeed bc
ets intake
ets complete 3 inch exhaust v2 extreme
gfb bov
forge actuador with red spring
tuned with cobb ap

thanks alot for anwsering frenziedtom so what do you think i shuold run max boost for?? and what do you think about taking off wtq and putting more hp is that the rigth way to go?
thanks a lot guys for anwsering its very helpful but what would you guys recomend is the max boost to use also whats the max torque om stock internals if you guys know dont wanna blow the motor my altitude is aprox 5050 foots above sea

so let me see if a got this right even if i did change my turbo for lets say a garret 3071r would i be able to go higher on the whp/and wtq with stock internals if it blows 15lb and it gives me more gains is that safe or should i be planning on changing internals also??
thanks shekaar thats very good info apreciate it much so 25 lb if def to much for the motor and i can get my hands only on vp gas.

If you have a bigger turbo you can run more power on 91. But you still wanna stay under 400wtq. Hp doesnt matter as much as the tq is what kills the rods. People run up to like 600whp on stock internals. Probably not the best idea, but ive been at 470whp for like 20k now and have been fine. Knock on wood
and if you run on e85 and you have 470 whp does that stres the rods or motor the same or less running on 91 or 93 pumpgas even do your car makes more power?? i ask this because i think high octane gas is cooler
good to know thanks for the knowledge frenzied and what do you recomend setting my limit on whp? i just dont wanna blow it

Personally on 91 i think 400whp with a fast spooling turbo would be a fun setup. But I wouldnt go higher than 450whp but people have. From what i understand E85 is very resistant to knock and has cooling and lubricating properties and is better for the engine then 91. But e85 is corrosive and if it sits for too long can tear away at things. E85 is better fuel than 91. I would think I would be stressing the rods more since I'm at alot higher boost and power. But I dont really have any knock so I dont know whats better lol. If you have E85 around you i would use it.
and thanks man frenziedtom because here where i live (mexico) they only sold 50 in the entire country so no one knows really what there doing except for the evo 9s👍👆
thanks mans apreciate your time on anwsering it very usefull and will be telling my tuner to lower things out and there is only 89 and 91 octane gas i bet the 91 is not even 91octane but cant do anything i guese all lower wtq for sure and stay there till i cani buy some forged rods and pistons because 400 whp wont do it for me

I was tuned on 91oct @ 23.5psi. I haven't seen many 91 set ups on stock block more than 25 on 91oct. On my current 93 tune, I'm at 26psi, and I've seen as high as 28, but that's pushing it. I'd find a new tuner, and whatever boost he feels is appropriate with zero detonation would be ideal. Best of luck.
