Exedy Stage 2 + Exedy Lightweight Flywheel
Exedy Stage 2 + Exedy Lightweight Flywheel
Hello, I've replaced my stock clutch disc with Exedy stage 2 (4 puck) + Exedy Lightweight flywheel. My car is making this weird sound after installing this parts, it is not only sound, the clutch pedal vibrates a lot and it feels like the disc is slipping. I have this problem only when parking or after a complete stop.
I know puck discs are not like stock, but is this normal? I feel like something is breaking.

No this isn't a problem trust me when i was first getting this is was going crazy i even talked to exedy and they told me it's perfectly normal. Mine does exactly this but it's not all the time some times it happens
Hi, this is normal. I can assure you of this. You have a 4-Puck clutch. You will have this chatter more audible than you will or if any with the full face clutch. It's perfectly fine. It takes time to get used to it. If you really don't like the sound, you have to rev higher or slip it slightly to get it to go. One reason is because it really grabs harder, and you're not letting go quick enough. You know that saying "Go or No-Go?" This is it. I have a 6-Puck as well and before I got it I made sure to do a lot of research before heading this direction. A search on google with 4/6-puck clutch chatter should show you common incidents of like-minded people inquiring about the same situation. No problems, you'll be fine.

Yes, I should search about this before buying an aftermarket clutch. Thank you
Yes I do and I think is not a good clutch but is still better than the stage 2 clutch, what I meant to say was "exedy stage 2 clutch for Evo X is crap"
I had a 3 puck exedy on my Honda Prelude and never had this problems, also had a honda civic si with stock clutch (which I think is exedy) and never had to replace it, but i had to replace my stock clutch on the Evo X after 10 months.

Yea those 3 puck or 6 puck clutches are not my favorite, I had bad luck with those in a few of my Hondas. Had great bite but didn't last that long. I'll be sticking with full disc clutches when it comes time for me to do the evo clutch as well.

So don't blame a manufacturer because you went over the top on a clutch and regret the harshness of a part for performance. Blame yourself for being naïve and thinking you could install a 500tq+ capable clutch that drives like stock.
Dude, Exedy is not crap - it's who made your OEM - you just have no idea what a 4/6 puck clutch and lightweight flywheel combo are supposed to feel/sound like. Do you think you're going to have the same drivability as stock? No. If you wanted some form of DD ability, you'll need to go with a full-face clutch. a 4/6 puck is for racing application or high horsepower due to the clamping force and grip.

Of course I don't expect the same drivability as stock because I'm installing a race clutch, but the feel/sound with exedy really sucks. With the ACT it doesn't sound at all. It is MY opinion.
Yes I have to blame myself for no looking information about this topic before buying.
