AMSOIL Dominator Racing Oil 10w-30 - DD

Haven't been able to find a forum that has answered my question about the Dominator Oil.

So I'll be getting tuned next Tuesday and just wanted to start my tune with fresh oil and spark plugs. I was told to change it up a bit and get the dominator oil.

I will be getting a dual map tune 91/e85 with the following parts

AEM Intake
HKS Super Turbo Muffler Catback
Custom Fabricated Test Pipe
COBB Boost Controller
ETS Open Dump
ETS UICP
ETS LICP
AGP FMIC
ID 1000cc
Wally 255 Pump Kit

My car is a DD, I do seek canyon runs often and sprinted driving. My question will the Dominator be too much for my application? A lot of these other threads speak of the dominator being to much for stock cars.

Dominator is a racing oil, not meant for street use or any kind of drain interval other than a race.

If you want a high ZDDP content oil from Amsoil, get the Zrod in 10w30

I second letsgethisdone. Get a good synthetic with high ZDDP since you don't have a cat. If you do run the dominator, do an oil change after your dyno session before you put many miles on it.

Thanks guys for the reply! Can I at least put a 1000-1500 on the dominator? Kinda of a waste of $60 bucks haha. Should I just stick with AMSOIL Signature 5w-30? Or the other series they have?

I just want to make sure my car has the best oils available to it since I'm enhancing more power, I'll be wanting to push it a little bit more. Would like to stick with AMSOIL since I have a wholesale account with them.

Amsoil Signature 5W-30 is perfectly fine for a DD. It's great oil, much better than most other stuff you'll see floating around.

You can run 1000-1500 on the dominator and be fine.

I would run the 10w30 Amsoil Zrod. It's great oil, and I think it's a little cheaper than the signature series.

5w30 instead of 10w30.
From my EVO experiance If i use brad penn 10w30 my EVO will burn a quart every 1000miles.
Using BP 5w30 i burn 1 quart per every 3k mile oil change.
Im about to hit 158000 miles too.

Why spend so much money on oil for street use?
I use Shell Rotella T6 5w40 as many others do. Relatively cheap & available locally. Working good for me so far.

Because diesel engine oil isn't designed for high rpm gasoline engines. If I wanted to be a cheapass, I wouldn't be driving a maintenance intensive turbo car like the Evo.

Wow didn't notice on the replies I got, but I called AMSOIL and they said dominator works perfect for me. Since there aren't period intervals on the dominator he said I will physically have to be checking my oil. They said usually dominator can last in between 1000-2000 miles depending on my style of driving, can possibly last more. They said best way to know when to do my intervals while using dominator is to do an oil analysis for 3 months.

I get dominator shipped to my house for $60. For me it's not expensive especially since I want the best for my car.
