Engine RPM Problems

Hi guys so I just received my car two days ago from California, Im in Massachusetts now, and ever since I got it's had weird rpm issues. I mainly notice it when im in fifth and trying to accelerate. It will accelerate to about 3500 rpm then drop back down to 3000 then come back up. It does it in fourth as well but around 4200 rpm. It wasnt doing this before the car was shipped from California on the 24th of January. I was flashed for Stage 1 on 91 gas but reflashed it for 93 gas and am running 93 gas. Could something be loose? I did research and people were saying it could be the clutch? I was thinking that it might because my car isnt used to Massachusetts and it was off for a week. Any help would be appreciated. Only mod I have is an Injen intake. Thank you.

Well for anyone cares it was the clutch. I took it to Kaizen Tuning today and they test drove it after replacing my axle and said the clutch was slipping. I have an appointment on Monday to have the clutch replaced and picking it up on Wednesday. I am going with a Comp Stage 3. A little excessive since Im pretty much stock but I do have plans for my car later on.

I was going to say, sounds like slipping clutch.

I would go with a comp stage 2, or ACT HDSS, those clutches will handle whatever the stock short block can, nor problem. No reason to go to the stage 3, especially since it won't drive as nice.

Yeah he recommended the stage 2 but he said for $10 more I could get the stage 3. I dont mind it being rough to drive since i feel like the stock clutch is soft anyways. I learned how to drive on a cable clutch and also own a 69 VW Bug so i want that feeling.

I'm not talking about pedal feel. Im talking about the clutch being grabby and and chattery.
