Rear Diff options

Hey fellow Evo X peeps! So my rear diff took a crap on me and the driver side of the case now looks like swiss cheese.

At this point im thinking of picking up the Cusco RS diff and trying to get a replacement OEM case. Hoping that I can snag just the driver side of the case since the rest appears to be perfectly fine.

From the research I've done so far it looks like this or sending to Jacks Transmissions are my only options. Really just trying to find the most cost effective option for my specific situation but wanted to know if anyone has had similar issues and can provide some insight on some options I may not have considered yet.

Thanks guys!

Do you launch the car a lot? If you do, I would call TRE and discuss going with an 8/9 rear diff. Much stronger solution for a X that is drag raced.

So long story short, I had an axle replaced at a shop in Austin Texas. within 100 miles(no launches or track days) of the replacement I noticed the rear was leaking. I was unable to work on it at the time because of work so I let it sit. I recently relocated to Miami and finally have the time and space needed to really take a look and as soon as I crawled under it I noticed the crack and smaller hole. Once I dropped the diff I noticed the holes on the top side. However, the cracks and holes are ONLY on the side that had the axle replaced. I do not claim to be a mechanic or expert but based off the facts above I am fairly certain this is all related to the shop in Texas improperly installing the axle.

No, unfortunately, this is a common failure mode of the X rear diff.
