Chasing down multiple issue in regards to power cut
Chasing down multiple issue in regards to power cut
Hi All,
I have a 2014 MR SST and I'm trying to identify multiple issues in regards to power cut.
I have my install of turbo, dump, manifold, pump & injectors done about a month ago and have been e-tuned to a driveable 25psi until my tuner comes to my state for a dyno session(all fine). Tuner is reputable across the world for 4B & SST so no problems with that but he is a busy guy so I'm trying to do a bit more research myself into the issue.
Issues:
*The car will randomly idle quite low sometimes as if its going to stall (closer to 500rpm)
*Sporadic times particularly coming out of a roundabout when I go to accelerate the car will
bog down like it has no power and then recover
* Changing to reverse as in parking will sometimes get it to drop quite low in idle as if its going to stall
I took a log of the issue at play. The scenario was after doing doing a 3rd gear 2000rpm- 6000rpm pull about 1 minute later cruising to a roundabout with minimal throttle input I entered the roundabout (obviously braking a bit) and when I've went to accelerate out the car started to fumble like a **** but corrected itself a few seconds later.
I have checked over the car for any potential loose hoses and clamps and reclamped all the piping so that all seems fine. I will be running a boost leak test later this week as well to rule out issues in that regards.
I have been told by other X owners I might either need a fuel pressure regulator or a rewire of the fuel pump(still using stock setup) but not sure if thats the case.
All the relays which are known to be faulty(fp, injectors etc) have been changed over the beefy ones people recommended as replacements to rule out something stupid like a dud relay(only 1 month old).
Attached is a log. I have been trying to capture a random sst issue as well so my apologies for all the values selected but thats not my major concern for this log. It would occur from rows 2100-2400 in spreadsheet form on the csv.
I'm hoping someone might be able to point out the issue. I did have issues previous to my turbo upgrade with this low rpm fumbling but apparently I have a common gasket leak I think on the turbo(manifold heat shield was covered in black soot) so I thought it may have been related to that.
Anyways thankyou in advance for reviewing this I'm looking forward to the responses.

The tuner probably gave you a rich tune, to be safe until he got into town to perfect it. From the logs it's hard to tell because it doesn't look like one pull, but it looks like in a couple areas the wideband is maxed out. So if it's too rich it could be all those symptoms. Doesn't sound like a power cut to me
Hey mate, i have a issue in which it drops to low rpm at idle.
The wideband appears to be fudging around as well as its reporting numbers of 50+ afr and then going to 0. The low rpm worries me though and I'm certain if I do have a leak somewhere that it would affect the SST doing its thing.
As you can noticed towards the end of the log I have a afr or 18ish when in reverse but I don't know if thats accurate or the sensor being a ****
. Definitely feels sluggish though until on boost and the main thing is once I've started it back up after say 20 mins of driving(park for 10) it then starts to play up with the low idle.
I'll do a boost leak test as soon as my testing kit is in.
