Going to be pulling my motor for the first time

I dont have access to a lift or anything so I am planning on pulling it out of the top. What do I have to look out for? I dont have to do anything with the steering rack or anything if I pull it out the top right? I was hoping to keep the manifold and turbo on it when I pulled it out. What do I do about the AC? I will have to disconnect those lines right?

The plan is to pull it, ship off the head and get a shortblock back and assembly it with the turbo kit on an engine stand before dropping it back in.

I have looked over a lot of DIY's and a lot seem to be out the bottom from a lift.

Any tips and tricks?

Thanks in advance.

I pulled mine out the front/top. You pull basically the whole front off. AC, core support, and all the parts on the driverside for the ECU/harness had to come off as well. And then its super easy to just lift it up and out the front. Turbo and manifold should be able to stay. I pulled mine to make it easier to get to the transfer case bolts to leave the transfer case in the car.

You'll need an engine hoist with an engine leveler so you can get some angle to get it out, but like Robert said, just remove basically everything from the engine bay.

Tcase bolts can be accessed by removing the down pipe. If you have the stock O2 housing still, the O2 housing does not need to come off, just the down pipe.
