ATS Triple Plate Clutch review
ATS Triple Plate Clutch review
Hey guys, so after blowing my old clutch I decided to go with an ATS triple disk. I went with the metal version instead of the carbon as it is supposed to be better for street use. At the end of the day I’m beyond disappointed in it.
Drivability wise it’s great. Feels lighter then stock, a little tricky to get going but very easy to get used to and drive well. There is bearing noise when applying the clutch, and I’ve heard it’s fairly common in triple disk clutches.
Now onto the bad. Bit of back story, my car is built running an 8374EFR, made 433whp on 18psi. Now I’m running an ok tune that still needs some adjusting but it peaks at 28psi and drops down to 17 by the time I hit 9krpm. When I grenaded my clutch, my tcase and tranny went at the same time. I’ve has this clutch for 10xxxKM (roughly 6000miles for US people) and about half of it wasn’t even in boost as I was breaking in new parts and didn’t have a proper tune. After that I started doing some pulls etc, and even went to a half mile (although I only ran the quarter) and did 6 passes on an unprepared airstrip. That’s 6 launches plus 3 more outside of the event, one racing a subie, one against a nitrous mustang and the last one tonight against a Procharged mustang... and now the clutch is on its way out. It is slipping if I try to go full throttle although I can still drive the car normally. I have 0 doubt that I’m pushing less then half the torque the clutch is rated for (1050 ft lbs) and I have under 10 launches and the clutch is slipping. The clutch I paid 2700$ for (about 2000$ US) is on its way out already... I am beyond disappointed and I will most likely be going to a quartermaster or Tilton. They might drive like **** but at least they’ll last me more then 6000miles 🤷🏽*♂️ So to end off this review, I don’t think I’ll ever be buying their products again. An utter waste of money in my opinion.

It happened on the weekend, I told my supplier and we will start a process tomorrow to see if they can do anything to help me out. I will update everyone how they handle it but even if they handle it well I will no longer be going with their product. That’s too much money for it to be failing already, even if they replace it, that doesnt replace the 1500$ I paid installing it or the cost to take it out and put a new one in or the countless hours it will take my if I do it myself like I did on my evo 8. As I said I’ll update how their customer service is and how they deal with it but regardless there’s absolutely 0 reason it should be failing.
ATS Customer Service
Hey guys, so Monday morning I sent ATS an email telling them about what happened as well as inquiring if there’s anything they can do to help me out and also if they offer rebuild kits. Shortly after my supplier got into contact with ATS and told me there’s no warranty. I also tried calling ATS and didn’t have an answer. It has now been 3 days and I’ve come to the conclusion that they’ve just ghosted me, especially considering they got back to my supplier right away. So, this just validated my previous statement that I will NEVER be buying from them again. As I said the clutch had great drivability but 6K, miles for one clutch pushing less then half the torque with one qm event ran is ridiculous. This is my experience, feel free to buy from them if you’d like but I personally won’t be going anywhere near that company again.
