Too much exhaust flow?

I’m looking to install widemouth down pipe. New exhaust manifold, high flow cat, and cat back exhaust. Everything else is stock. Had a friend mention too much exhaust flow being an issue and efficiency range with stock turbo. Any concern here?

Not an issue, Too much exhaust flow on a turbo engine is impossible from what I understand

Too much exhaust flow isn't possible but too large diameter an exhaust can actually result in reduced flow since the air will stall and cool and actually reduce the flow in the system. So while you don't want to restrict the exhaust, a 6" pipe with a long run would be bad for performance. As far as our cars go, nothing bolt-on is too big for a stock turbo.

Cool! Thanks guy. Appreciate the input! Glad to know I didn’t make a mistake buying these.

On the idle, when there is low flow of gases and not enough temperature, the front o2 sensor may not reading correctly and will give false values, engine idling will be poor

So with these mods and a tune (also add in an air intake now). You think the idle could be poor?

On the idle there is always low flow of gases, no matter how mods we put to our engines, retarding timing on the idle and bumping up rpm to 900-1000 will do the job, or better way may be runing in the open loop on the idle

I would think the tuner would take care of all this if it was an issue right? When you referenced temperature, you’re saying cooler exhaust temps because of the mods can mess with the idle?
