So I am looking to hit 500whp on e85 I have seen several different set ups but I stumbled across tpc gt spec turbos haven’t seen too much info about them anybody have real world experience with them?

I have no experience with the turbos you are asking about but I'm going to post the same thing I do on every one of these type of questions that come up.
Think about how you plan to use the car rather than a finite number of hp. If its a street/daily, you will want to have good spool and top end numbers mean less. If its a drag car, invert the 2.
There have been a lot of people that build all sorts of cars and don't end up happy with the results because they were focused on a number rather than behavior.
500whp should be pretty doable with decent response but its just something to keep in mind as you pick mods for your car. Hate to see someone mod it and end up disappointed with the results.

yea I get your point as of right now I’m fbo e85 tuned by kozmic put down some decent power but definitely needs more power for me. It’s not a daily driver I drive it once a week. It’s more of a highway cruiser, I put 500whp because that way it gives people a general idea of what I am trying to accomplish power wise and if turbo is capable of doing so. Ok, that's good to know. So right now you are making somewhere around 400hp I assume? Originally Posted by aldoevo

A quick look at wheel specs for the TPC GT and it looks like a mix of the gtx3071 turbine wheel and gtx3576 compressor wheel. So that turbo should support far more than 500hp assuming it doesn't get choked by the smaller turbine wheel.
In your specific use case, I'd probably look at something closer to the gtx3071. https://www.maperformance.com/produc...x-atp-vevo-050
That turbo can support 600 hp according to the manufacturer and should have less lag than the mentioned TPC Spec.
I think both the gtx3071 and TPC would get to that 500hp number, but the gtx would do it with less lag at least in theory.
My thought is always use the smallest turbo for your desired number on a street car. Its way more fun to me than a bunch of lag with a smaller powerband.

yes on mustang dyno it put down 341whp and 349wtq dj numbers would be close to 400whp. Kozmic dyno is know for heartbreaker dyno lol Originally Posted by schuhie

so I did consider a gtx3576r but saw that the tpc gt is comparable somewhat and about 1k less so figured I could save that money but I’m still on the fence about it.
Considered a mhi18k but I have seen most people who get that turbo end up upgrading to something bigger lol

Yea, I mean I know the quality of the GTX stuff so I'd personally lean that way but I get it, 1000 isn't a small difference. Originally Posted by aldoevo

Honestly, if I had a X, I would go with the 18k probably. Excellent response, plenty of power and its a stock turbo so good reliability. But it won't make it to 500hp.
Maybe someone will chime in on the TPC stuff, could also try a forum popular overseas, maybe someone there has tried it.
