Fixed: Evo X staining floor with coolant-colored fluid under the engine bay
^Recently, my relative noticed that my (2014 MY) Evo X has been leaking fluid onto the garage floor, right under the engine bay. After examining, it is the lime green Prestone coolant that I use in my Evo.
^To confirm, I checked the engine bay, and the coolant reservoir is completely empty. Then, I bought a jar of premixed Prestone and filled the reservoir to the "full" line for the time being. Afterwards, I called my shop and booked an appointment, and brought in the Evo two weeks later.
^My mechanic found that it was the Mitsubishi plastic radiator T-joint (p/n: 1350A043) that developed a crack, and has been the source of the leak. He told me it is normal for plastic pipes to age and crack after the heat cycles from over 100k miles.
^Therefore, I ordered an OEM replacement, which is known to Mitsubishi as the radiator cap assembly (p/n: 1350A043).
^New radiator T-joint (p/n: 1350A043) installed. The old one just cracked and disintegrated as my mechanic took it out. As much as I wish that a full metal replacement of the 1350A043 can be readily available, out of the factory the Evo X is nowhere nearly as plastic as some newer luxury sportscars.
^After a day of commute, for now, the coolant is no longer leaking. Hooray!!
