Question Can't separate engine from transmission - help

I'm trying to separate my engine from the transmission and I thought I had the TOB disengaged but maybe not...anyway, it refuses to separate further than the ~1 inch in the photo, and I've tried using a screw driver to disengaged the TOB, but it just seems stuck. What am I doing wrong here?

Details by photo:
1) The position of the clutch; it seems stuck here as I've tried to move it
2 & 3) View of the TOB; I've tried twisting a screwdriver in between the middle solid ring and the solid transmission piece on right side (photo 2), but it doesn't seem to budge from here
4 & 5) I've opened the transmission ~1 inch all around, but won't go further despite using some large pry bars

if you can not get the tob to disengage, and they can get stuck, you can always unbolt the pressure plate trough the hole in the trans bellhousing
