Engine keeps cutting out!!!!
Engine keeps cutting out!!!!
Hiya, really hoping someone can help!!
9 times out of 10 when the clutch is depressed the engine cuts out!!....it seems to be ok until it's moved for the first time and then the trouble starts!! It starts fine most of the time, sometimes after cutting out it mite take 5/10 seconds to fire up but thats about as bad as it gets. It runs perfectly generally speaking but as soon as the clutch is pressed down it just dies!!
Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

EDIT: I might have misread your OP....Just to recap, my car would not idle with the clutch in or out...so this may not be the case for you....but here is what I experienced:
You might want to check your IAC valve. The symptoms sound almost identical to what I experienced in the past.
I have a 2003 Evo 8 and I'm on my 3rd IAC... Miles in my sig. It would not hold idle but I could drive the car and it drove fine until I depressed the clutch and it could not idle on its own....did some checking around and found out my IAC had gone bad...
I'm not certain how to test if it is bad or not...there is a way I've read but I have not confirmed it so take this advice to someone else and confirm it.... If you remove the IAC and leave it plugged in and then turn your key to the on position without starting it/cranking it over, it should move up and down... Once again, CONFIRM this with another member..
Just a thought!
They cost around 50 - 100 bucks on this site used. I would suggest replacing it with a newer model that has the spring on the outside of the shaft...that's what I have now.

#4 is an oem IAC for an older model evo..
